1. You Are the Expert (Believe It)
This is the most important mindset shift. The External Examiner might have more experience, but you are the only person in the room who has spent 3+ years studying this specific topic. You know your data better than anyone else. Own that authority.
2. The “I Don’t Know” Trap
It is okay not to know everything. If the examiner asks a question about a theory that is outside your scope, do not bluff.
- Wrong: Making up an answer (They will catch you).
- Right: “That is an interesting angle. My study focused specifically on X, so I haven’t explored Y in depth, but I believe it would be a valuable area for future research.” This shows maturity and academic honesty.
3. Summarize, Don’t Read
Your presentation (PPT) should not be a copy-paste of your thesis paragraphs. The examiners have already read the thesis.

5. Practice with a “Mock Viva”
